If you manage to feed an emotional destructor reward, you're very likely to get more later on the contract where it actually counts. The other way around, if you fight more for the emotional rewards in the moment, you might be tempted to compromise on something else that's more important. It happens so much more often than people think. For example, sometimes people that are just happy when it's over, they're just happy when they've achieved something.
