When priests are asked to get someone's confession, one of the things is usually drinking. Have you drunk anything that is going to prevent you from conceiving? That is a pretty general question. And it's interesting because for medieval people, there doesn't seem to be the same kind of idea of abortion early on and what they would call contraception.
