The East African Rift

Everything Everywhere Daily

00:00

The Origins of Africa's Geology

The East African Rift is the result of tectonic plates colliding with each other. There are only two places on land where you can see plate rifts - Iceland and East Africa. The rift begins at the closest point of land to the triple junction known as the Afar Triangle. It's also responsible for the Dead Sea between Israel and Jordan. In another episode, Josh travels through Russia and Germany looking for stolen objects pillaged during World War II.
