How I Come to a Respect for Poets

Helena: I feel incredibly fortunate that for all the mess of our relationships my parents especially my father who was an artist himself they've always believed in my ability to pursue this seriously we were really raised under the notion of whatever it is you want to do you have our support. She says she's grateful to come from a culture that reveres poets and has been raised by parents who understand that poets can and have led revolutions. "I love that framework and I will keep that close in the moments when maybe my partner reminds me that I'm being too stubborn or too sensitive yeah well you know to then continue on this path"
