There's a complicated history too with how Christians of various traditions and expressions relate to science, especially in the last hundred years. And so that all kind of feeds into it. There are lots of ways if you believe that your identity as an individual person is something that you get to define and everyone else has to accept it because to be recognized is for you to be in complete control of your identity. I think that that like those, those issues come up in lots of places, not just around gender but macro issues where us being a part of the biosphere is problematic.
