Introduction
Kokomo was one of the most important records in early rock and roll. Shirley and Lee were a New Orleans R&B duo who recorded in Cosimo Matassa's studio. Their first single, and Gone, reached number two on the R&B charts. The song seems to have fallen out of collective memory altogether.
