The Relationship Between Compatibilityists and General Problems for Reductionism in Theorizing About Free Will
This is a great and important question. I think one of the things that I really like puzzled through in writing this paper was thinking about the relationship between the problem that I was marshalling against compatibilists and general problems for reductionism in theorizing about free will. So I'll give you an interesting example about Chris Franklin's view. His book does a lot to advance the project of event causal libertarianism. And views of that sort very famously have problems because they're reductive. Yeah. He's got an argument in the book called the it ain't me argument. It can't be the case that the past events determine what's going to happen next.
