Germany will be relying on Belgian and French nuclear plants, which might be 45 years old. The problem in Europe this winter is what to do when you have cold, dark, windless days. Germany has one of the highest carbon intensity power grids in Europe. They decommissioned three last year; at least two could easily be brought back online.
