The Evolution of Hell

There doesn't seem to actually be that much information in the Bible about hell. I wonder where this view sort of comes from of fiery torment with Satan prodding you with a stick and forcing you to undergo torment. Where does this come from? Well, you're going to get it in places like the Apocalypse of Peter. And quite honestly, I think it comes out of a mentality of pain and suffering that a lot of people were going through.
