Psychologists and biologists have been studying the impact of maturation on physical activity. Girls who perceive themselves as less attractive, less physically fit are more likely to drop out than those who see themselves in a positive way. Those animal chewing girls had a very strong peer support group but were just as likely to stay active as later-developing girls.
