The Importance of Rhetoric in the Political Arena
The importance of rhetoric in the political arena can be seen as far back as Homer. Protagoras especially was involved in the question of whether virtue could be taught, which is the central thesis of Plato's dialogue named after him. In it, Protagoras does not deny that he is a sophist, and in fact he claims that it is an ancient and honorable art.
