Oppenheimer's Decision to Build a Nuclear Weapon
Robert Oppenheimer knew the bomb would be used on a whole city. He instructed the bombardiers to drop it in the center of Hiroshima, and at the right altitude. When he read the accounts of what happened in Hiroshima after the bomb, we know from letters that his wife Kitty wrote, she feared for his life. And then he sent the rest of his life trying to warn people about the dangers of these weapons. Even he said a weapon that had been used on a virtually already defeated enemy.
