In a series of letters back and forth between Jinnah and Nehru, which were printed in the newspapers, you can hear the frustration of these childhood rivals. The press itself was polarized, each side leveling insults and allegations. And being a part of the American political press right now, I will say it is hard to ignore the parallels. In the case of India, it began to push things to the edge.
