In the late 40s, most patients at Lexington were white. The research that eventually got them shut down was CIA-funded experiments with LSD in the 50s and 60s. In one experiment, researchers put patients who'd already detoxed back on drugs. They re-addicted them and then made them go through withdrawal again.
