amy goldstein: I was really interested in the question of what happens to people when good work goes away. i was thinking a lot aboutd the great recession of two thousand seven, two thousand nine and the years immediately afterwards. In janesville, it was partly unemployment benefits that affected people's post work trajectory,. But a lot of it was more where people had worked before their jobs went away.
