How Much Do Maps Vary From Individual to Individual?

O'Neill: Brain maps are incredibly malleable very, very early in life. If you have a child who one hemisphere of her brain failed to develop in utero, and so she was born with only half a brain... She could represent both visual fields in one half of the map. Andi get examples too, like if youif children are blind from birth, they are able to take areas like primary visual cortex that would normally process vision, and use it for something else. So there's not a single kind of time point where you know you're done. But certainly, in terms of making any dramatic changes, that's limited to to very early.
