The inception of america's army was predominantly triggered by a 19 97 national research council report that suggested video games were a far better net working tool than defense research expenditures. After this report came out, mike zida, who was the founding director of the modelling virtual environments and simulation at the naval post graduate academy, was tasked with coming up with a pitch for a first person shooter modeled after counter strike.
