Central Bank Digital Currency or Stablecoins?

Central bank digital currency is quite interesting I still don't really understand why it's always being brought up in a context with blockchain. In the end it's really just about opening up the balance sheet to non-banks and that is actually a big deal. CBDC would do is just M0 essentially eating away the market share if you would call it that way off M1 and M2 which means essentially that the central bank is going to become the main counterparty rather than commercial banks.
