Carbon 14 is a radioactive isotope of carbon. It's been in the atmosphere for so long that all the radioactive isotopes of carbon have decayed, so it's just got regular carbon in it. Bomb radio carbon was spreading across the planet from test sites in the pacific and the arctic.
