I think that the real problem with this movement was not just that it was a bunch of people who didn't like disco. That's completely fine. But we need to be able to talk about those things without acting like they are objectively less sophisticated than other forms of expression. I don't want to in any way imply that everyone who dislike disco is like somehow a Philistine or racist or homophobic. We don't choose the aesthetic preferences that we have, but we do choose the way that we talk about them.
