In 1932 and the Great Depression, good humor bars were flying off the shelves or out of the refrigerated bins. 14 million of them were sold in New York and Chicago alone. Good humor trucks had no door on the passenger side so drivers could pull up to a curb,. hop on the sidewalk, hand out the treats from the freezer in the back. And consumers loved that there was a bell.
