The Role of Organ Allocation Rules in Organ Selection

It's a little bit complex in terms of organ allocation. And I think these rules are constantly changing. So the organ procurement organization actually has a special person dedicated to running the transplant list. Once they determine that this organ is looking okay and maybe suitable for transplantation, they'll start running their list  and they'll start locally. But depending on where you're living, if you're close to several transplant centers, you may have more opportunity to get an organ than if you're say in Alaska.
