The New Rules for Political Lying

Donald Trump is under multiple indictments, being subjected potentially in Georgia to a mug shot. If we're playing by the new rules, which is the only way forward, then why isn't there a special counsel looking into this? Because again, it seems like political lying is a okay on the left. But when it comes to Donald Trump, even when he says something, he believes it's true as long as they declare it a lie.
