The Importance of Memory in Conflict
Psychology is a two-person psychological system. It's intersubjective which means it is internally experienced by one's own perceptions. Memory is unreliable period. If you're fighting about memory don't you're both wrong? And perception is a funhouse mirror where it's constantly changing according to our internal state of mind. The problem is is that human beings myself included believe that everything they say, everything they think, everything they see and hear is actually accurate in reality. But these are errors that all human beings will make. We're trying to teach people to be smarter than that and to override it by understanding how easy it is for another person to misunderstand what we're saying.
