The Role of Civic Education in Democracy
Daniel Treisman: Our form of democracy is pretty passive. And civic education and compulsory voting isn't really going to change that. I'm not sure you can funnel this through 21st century liberal representative democracy. He says there's scope for a kind of assembly type democracy where people were citizens participate directly in open assemblies.Treisman: If we did, our democracy would be more vibrant and people would be more involved.
