The Del Marva Chicken of Tomorrow Contest

The Del Marva Chicken of Tomorrow Festival was held in Georgetown, Delaware as a finale to this whole contest and winners were announced on June 24, 1948. The overall winner was submitted by Charles and Kenneth Vantress of Vantress Hatchery in Marysville, California. Salio started breeding chickens with all white feathers because the feathers of Plymouth Rock chickens being raised caused staining during kosher processing. In 2001, Pureline Genetics launched Arbor Acres into an international brand which is now part of Aviagen broiler breeders.
