How important or how critical is education, a college degree, certification, courses, et cetera, to actually landing a really great job in UX? I think you can get a huge amount of knowledge out of universities. A lot of the best people are self taught because a lot of the university courses in design UX products are pretty poor. But that's not to say that education isn't important. You've got to work hard. It's not a case of just going to university and then pouring knowledge into you.
