The State Is Important
In the interpretation of the past ten thousand or so years that they present, it is very difficult to understand how so many people came to live under the rule of states. People's ability to choose life styles that maximize their freedom isn't as great as wengro and greber suggest. That is the paradox and the problem that needs to be explained. Without being so vague as to reach the point of being totally asinine, the state really is important. It is essential to understand how and why it matters when and where it applies.
