What Is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is a skill where you can recognize and manage your own feelings while also recognizing and really responding effectively to other people's feelings. The term was first coined in 1990 by two psychology professors, John Mayer of the University of New Hampshire and Peter Salavi from Yale. And we've also done this work with adults, but the research with adults and we see the same things as far as longer relationships that are less rocky.
