Scaling a Web Application
As you get to grow, you need to separate development from production. The biggest reason is that a lot of times the data is different in both environments. So when we build out an initial web app, we're probably using something like Heroku because I don't have to worry about a server. We can use databases as a service because it's good enough. Even at chef, we find we run into things of operations.
