Lives of a Cell by Lewis Thomas
In a book called Lives of a Cell, Lewis Thomas talks about how cultures all around the world have a folk that's pure for warts. In Ireland, you cut a potato in half and rub your wart with one half and bury the other half under a full moon or something. And this is exactly what you were describing through hypnosis. The bodies inate intelligent separates out the toxic cells from the healthy cells, and the warts shrivels up and disappears.
