The Importance of Motivation in Open Source Contributions
The idea that someone will spend, you know, all these hours in time into building something for you without asking for money or a favor or anything in return to seems too good to be true. I think it's most of the time quite selfish motivation. And so they're making improvements because they want to have those improvements for themselves but they're using your code. So they may as well push it back into the project and see if anyone else uses what they've built.
