The Survival of DNA in Space

A new study has looked at the survival in space of DNA. Scientists painted a rocket with bacterial DNA and recovered it when it fell back down to earth under a parachute. If that DNA still worked, it was still functional. The sites which were most protected from the heat of the entry back into the atmosphere survived the best.
