The Different Types of Words
Spanish makes everything masculine unless it's um unless it ends in ah some and sometimes things that end in ah particular Greek loan words end up being masculine. Russian is really complicated so they have the normal rule of it's a man or a woman then it goes to the appropriate class but picking neuter for a new word is dispreferred which I think is really interesting. Some languages are semantic where semantic means men go into the masculine class but so do any tools that men use or occupations or things associated with the occupations of men Um so it makes sense semantically but it might not be obvious to us as people outside of the culture how things get classified.
