Persia's Onslaught at Theopyle

The Persians captured leonida's corpse after the battle at thermopyle. Xerxes ordered it decapitated and crucified, a very dishonourable end. This was a marked departure from the normal way that the persians dealt with their vanquished enemies. The rest of the greek dead, however, they were buried at thermopyles after theafter persians had moved on.
