Mianmar - A Story of Hope and Decline
Mianmar had a democratic opening in two thousand and eight when a new constitution was drafted. But the military never stopped playing a significant role in politics. When the opposition won the 20 20 elections, the generals apparently began to prepare to usurp power. Some of the effects that we've seen of this have been civil society and political leaders that have been arrest on mass over a thousand people killed during pro democracy protests.
