How to Reduce the Suffering of a Poor Person in a City Like San Francisco
i think that this gets complicated for me when you look at just what we're going to target as a reduction in suffering. If we can save more lives in country x over country y, well then that seems like it's a net good to be spending our dollars in country x. But when you think about human suffering, and when you think about how so much of it is comparative, the despair of being someone who has fallen through the cracks in a city like san francisco could well be much worse. i wouldn't want to make a claim the the that homeless person in the u s has a better life than the extreme poor.
