Conservatism vs Liberalism: Reviewing Yoram Hazony's Case for Conservatism, with Dr Simon Kennedy

The Political Animals

CHAPTER

Is There a God in Tradition?

Russell Kirk has this idea that Providence never really defined and it almost has a bit of a deistic sense. He's actually got this interesting idea that God works through tradition and that's where you see God's provenance in his direction of history. In contrast, he calls what he calls enlightenment liberalism. It forms a complete contrast with the conservative epistemology to the extent that it's all about trying to discern truth through the use of individual reason. The one benefit of that is that it can allow for the cultural diversity of human cultures.
