I was brought in because there was an awareness that there was something evolutionary about the whole question. We have a tendency as humans to solve problems and we solve them at all sorts of different scales. The problem is that when we build these things in large measure because our history of building such things is pre Darwinian we are not aware that we are building an entity that will evolve according to whatever niche space it finds itself in. And so if you look at for example the American experiment the American experiment was architected by highly intelligent people who understood more or less what their objectives were but they were prior to the origin of species.
