The Moral Confusion of Economic Life
The moral logic of exchange is only one in any given situation, there are likely to be completely different principles that could be brought to bear. In a sense, moral thought is founded on this very tension. To really understand what debt is, then it will be necessary to understand how it's different from other sorts of obligation that human beings might have to one another. So, however, poses peculiar challenges contemorary social theory. Economic anthropology offers surprisingly little help in this regard.
