Soreness is brought about by honor, custom activity, high intensity activity and eccentric activity. Intensity per say is fine but if you do too much at intensity, you're just going to run into too much muscle damage. Don't go chucking in crazy exercises. As long as they're consistent, then it's not unaccustomed. If the intensity is too much and you're doing too much volume at intensity, that's a real killer.
