The Importance of Understanding Your Brand

A lot of companies just changing what they're doing over and over again to meet the demands of these platforms that obviously don't ultimately have their best interest at heart. You are a youth media brand run by people who aren't youth. There is fundamental dissonance and you can have veterans in the room that help guide the youth, but you will have trouble reaching them in the language that they speak. If you have a good sense of what your brand is and who you appeal to, you grow with that audience without needing to chase or to change. And I think that's another learning that we're going to see.
