There is a tendency in your profession to over-medicalize mental illness. Some blame the power of the pharmaceutical industry. I think there is a fear even amongst many psychiatrists of over-diagnosis. Medication has a role in particular conditions. But used incorrectly, it just becomes something completely unnecessary and futile.
