Getting Tests to Help You Maintain a Code Base That Has Static Types

I think maintenance really benefits from some kind of like very simple structure like types. When you're making a big invasive change to a code base, you invalidate a bunch of tests. And while you're in the process of making the change, the tests for that change don't help you because they don't exist yet. They worked on the old thing that's not now.
