The Language of Tendency

Hume is not doing a psychoanalysis when he's thinking of the psychology of the affections of the line. It can have resonances with psychoanalysis and that would be its own episode and interest. But we shouldn't unduly mix these jargon. So we have to be very careful in that second chapter when drive starts to get talked about, that is the same word tendency.
