Canto 3 begins with perhaps the best known lines from the Hall of Dante's Divine Comedy, a band and every hope all you who enter here. The words above the gate that's right at the vestibule of Hell proper are more interesting than just the most famous line. There's already something slightly strange about this because it's saying that there's something about stepping into the vestibules of hell - which actually is part of the way.
