I think Paul Wellstone was like kind of a big leading voice of them, essentially very vocal against it. And there was kind of a Midwestern vibe back in those days. I feel like the Democrats sort of like did not enthusiastically kind of support his reelection. In Minnesota and Wisconsin, you did have these kind of like weird old school kind of more a little more populist and lefty and less like militaristic Democrats back then.
