The Paradox of the Chinese Learner

The author talks about the paradox of the Chinese learner, and what this means is the way that Westerners see the Chinese. When Westerners visit Chinese schools or they teach Chinese students then they're disappointed, or even outraged by Chinese learning. But yet it performs so well, that's the thing, that’s the paradox, it seems to be what looks like bad learning techniques from a Western perspective, but actually works incredibly well.
