What Happened to Mikoyan After the Death of Stalin?
Mikoyan was placed in charge of transporting food and supplies during World War II. After the war, Stalin's attitude towards Mikoyan soured because he spoke his mind. In 1957, an attempt was made to remove Khrushchev from power, but Mikoyan refused to back it. Even after Khrushchev's own less threatening cult of personality began to silence everybody else in the Soviet hierarchy, Mikoyan would still speak up.
