The Importance of Sequential Professional Development in the Military

The military is unique, in I'm not aware of anywhere else in industry or in the US government that provides the kind of sequential professional development courses. So if you're a commissioned officer, a West Point or ROTC, then there's a basic course a few years after that. And when you get to the consequential one, let's say in your case it was, the first really consequential one was leading 101st and leading them in Mosul in Iraq. You had a few decades under your belt of smaller leadership roles. Is that a better way to make it easier for you when it came time to do something incredibly consequential? Very much so, yeah.
